iPhone price in France: what every model costs today
The lowest price of every iPhone at French retailers, checked every day, with the discount against Apple's launch price — and why French prices are not the US price converted at the exchange rate.
What an iPhone really costs in France
PrixiPhone checks the price of every iPhone at French retailers every day, and has done so for several generations. The table below is not a price list copied from Apple: it shows the lowest price we can display today for each model, new, sold by a retailer shipping in France.
All prices are in euros and include French VAT at 20 %. Apple's own price is a starting point, not what people pay: retailers start undercutting it within days of a launch, and the gap keeps growing for as long as the model stays on sale.
How to read the table
The table is generated from our daily records, so its labels are in French. « Modèle » is the model, « Prix du jour » today's lowest price, « Décote » the discount against Apple France's launch price, and « Verdict » our buy-or-wait signal, which compares today's price with the last 90 days of our records for that model.
The figures change with the market — that is why none are written in this text. On each model page, retailers that pay us a commission are listed first; the others follow when they are more expensive. That ordering never changes the price you pay.
Why France is not the US price converted to euros
American prices are quoted before sales tax; French prices include VAT. Converting a dollar price at the exchange rate therefore gives a figure that no French shop will ever show. Across the whole iPhone 17 range, the ratio between the French price including VAT and the US price before tax settled between 1.21 and 1.23 — and the iPhone 18 Pro confirmed it.
That coefficient, not the exchange rate, is what turns a US price leak into a French price. It also explains why comparing a French receipt with an American price tag always looks unfavourable, even when the underlying price is the same.
Apple Store or retailer: when the gap opens
Apple rarely cuts the price of a model it still sells: the official price stays put, sometimes for two years. Retailers do the opposite. The gap widens in two predictable moments — after the September keynote, when shops clear the previous generation, and around Black Friday, when the Pro models are discounted the most.
Since 2026 Apple has split its calendar: the Pro models came out in September, while the standard iPhone 18, the 18e and the Air 2 are expected in early 2027. The iPhone 17 therefore remains the newest standard model for more than a year, while its retail price keeps falling.
Buying in France as a visitor
Residents of countries outside the European Union can usually claim back French VAT on goods they take home, provided the purchase reaches a minimum amount and the retailer issues a tax-free form. The conditions are set by French customs (douane.gouv.fr): check them, and ask the shop for the form before paying, not after.
A new iPhone bought from a French retailer also comes with the two-year legal guarantee of conformity owed by the seller under EU law, on top of Apple's own warranty. Check the listing for the exact model reference and SIM configuration if you plan to use the phone abroad.
Get an email when the price drops
Price drops often last a few hours and are announced nowhere. Rather than checking shops every week, open the page of the model you want, set the price you are willing to pay, and PrixiPhone sends you an email the day an offer goes below it. The emails are in French; the price speaks for itself.
